Past summer breaks for me consisted of just hanging out with friends and going on vacations, but with senior year approaching, I thought I would be a little more productive with my time.

I have been fairly busy, but a good busy. I have taken on a summer internship and a summer class, while looking into being a mentor for young girls. I have only been able to start the mentor training hopefully things will calm down later in the summer and , I will be fully involved with the program.

This is just the beginning of my summer there is more to come!

Since the snow storm on Friday everything has been chaotic from the roads being a mess to almost everything being delayed or closed. The good news is we haven’t had class for the past two days. The day after the storm my roommates and I explored Downtown to see what the damage was, it seemed like a winter wonderland I haven’t seen that much snow in awhile in Pittsburgh. It honestly went to my knees it was fun to look at and have snowball fights in until it started to melt and that’s when the slush comes about. I hope that this was the worst of the worst.

This pass week was pretty hectic being that it was finals week. The only really good thing during finals week is that you have winter break to look forward to. The fact that winter break starts right after your last final is motivation in its self. I had it pretty easy being that most of my professors give take home finals. Yes, they were a little harder but there were no time constraints. I am finally done and excited to go home and spend time with family and friends for the holidays.

Thanksgiving break to me is a well needed break from school that allows you to be with family and friends and gives you that extra boost right before finals. Over break I spent a lot of times with my friends that I haven’t seen since school has stared due to the fact that they go to school out of state. We did a lot a random things like a spear of the moment trip to the zoo, which was really fun because I haven’t been there in years. The aquarium is always my favorite part of the zoo to visit. Over all the time spent with my friends was way over due.

On Thanksgiving I spent the day with my family, there is never a dull moment when I am around them. You can’t go wrong when you have a houseful of family and good food to go along with it. We also celebrated my little cousins and mines birthday since it was the day before Thanksgiving. A random fact I actually have two cousins that share the same birthday as me to me that is pretty crazy that three people in the same family share the same birthday.

Also I did some planning about what I would wear for the Soul Food Social:Jazz Classic that is taking place on December 2nd. This event is being hosted by the Black Student Union here at Point Park, which I am a member of . This event is meant to highlight the music of Ms. Patte Terrell and her jazz band, and Mrs. Candi Castleberry-Singleton. The topic for the evening will be about the importance of Diversity and Inclusion in Today’s Society.

This past break was well needed, but I am happy to be back to school!!!
